The New Basketball Court is Not Ugly! You All Just Lack Taste!

Controversy strikes at RCHK once again due to the famous basketball court suddenly being stripped of its light bluish-green colour and tiles underneath. Students in the halls chatter about why this might be happening right after Christmas break. Could it be that aliens have invaded our school and stuffed the basketball court into their UFO? Could it be that somebody has eaten the basketball court overnight? Or could it be that there is a hidden treasure (possibly a million dollars) under the court and the teachers are all out to find it first? Well, let’s find out!

To find the answers to your questions, a mysterious figure has interviewed the RCHK Business Manager for the truth behind the renovation of the basketball court (aka it was on Student Bulletin a few months ago). According to him, the construction is to renew our 15-year-old basketball court. If you use the cat years ratio, 15 years is pretty old for a basketball court. To hide its wrinkles (cracks) and to rejuvenate its soft skin (coating), a decision was made to do the construction. Glad to know that it was not something as horrendous as aliens coming to steal it! Additionally, basketball hoops will also be more flexible and will be able to turn 180 degrees after the renovation, which means other sports can be played too!

Students are advised to be patient, to not mess around and most importantly to not play basketball during this time. The construction is said to last six weeks, but time will pass very soon since it started during Christmas break and we are now starting the month of March. We as students should look forward to seeing the new basketball court when we return to school after the 5th wave of Covid-19 goes away.

As seen in pictures on the RCHK Instagram page, the new court seems to be yellow, white and black, which are the three main colours that the school uses for the promotion of the school symbol, the Black Kite. Not only does this design represent school spirit, but it also does not burn your eyes anymore when you look at it under the sun (the Minions at Leeks all agree on this fact)! The revamped basketball court in the heart of RCHK is a re-energized space with RCHK colours and visuals of the Black Kites awaiting students to come back and play. So whoever dares to say that the new basketball court is ugly, you just lack taste!

However, I personally believe that the basketball court should be green, white and gold coloured — to fit the Leeks aesthetic — you know?
