VLT, a drink that all of us have tried (IF YOU HAVEN’T UR A MONSTER). The sweet and slightly bitter taste is one that makes many of us comfortable, just ignore the occasionally ridiculous amount of sugar.
With most drinks, there are also a variety of flavors, from the much stronger “ceylon” flavor, to the chilly “super icy” flavor, plus a bunch of random flavors that no one really cares about. (super icy my fav)
Back in the start of October, I was walking to a class with a friend, when we passed by a 7-11 and noticed something very different in the fridge, something I have never seen before; a spicy bottle of VLT.
A SPICY BOTTLE OF VLT. IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY EYES? WHO AND HOW DID THEY THINK OF THIS?
Here’s a 100% accurate rendition of the meeting went when they decided on making this “interesting” product:
Employee 1: hey, we need something interesting for halloween.
Employee 2: well we’ve stuck stickers on bottles before, had celebrities on our bottles, can’t make the bottles bigger (can’t make those kids happy).
Employee 1: ahhh i guess we need to do something different… can we change up the taste?
Employee 2: we can’t make it less sweet (we’ve done that before), we can’t make it more bitter (people will hate us).
CEO: *slurping on noodles* DAMN THESE SICHUAN SOUP NOODLES ARE GOOD!! YOOO WE SHOULD MAKE THE HALLOWEEN VLT SPICY!!
Employee 1&2: CEO, but won’t a spicy VLT taste kinda weir-
CEO: SHUT UP OR I’LL FIRE YOU BOTH! GIMME THE SPICY VLT!
Employee 1&2: 好吧...
Back to me in a 7-11, I grabbed the spicy VLT from the fridge, with the cashier staring at me extremely suspiciously, probably questioning why I bought this monstrosity.
With the bottle in hand, I couldn’t help but twist open the bottle, unleashing a scent that I have never smelled before; a mixture of my family’s hot pot on a winter night and the blissful sweet scent of VLT. The taste was equally as weird, “devil’s lemon tea” I would describe it as.
After my sip, the bottle was then passed around the tutoring studio, where every staff member, student and tutor had a sip, all coming out with the same face.
After all, the bottle was eventually finished, and my perception of VLT has been forever changed.
To the guy who thought of spicy VLT, go see a psychiatrist ;)
